Education

CMAA provides Construction Managers (CMs) with the industry’s leading source of professional education and training. We offer a variety of traditional and digital programs dedicated to improving the overall competency and performance of industry professionals and rising CMs.

All education, networking, professional development and charitable events in the South Atlantic Chapter are posted on our chapter calendar.

Certification | CCM and CMIT

The Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is the gold standard in personnel credentials for the construction management profession. It is the only construction management certification accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO-17024 standard.

Achieving the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) indicates to owners and service providers that you have a mastery of specific skills required to successfully complete projects and programs.

The Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT®) Program is a starting point to help develop a successful career in the construction management industry. The CMIT is a professional credential recognizing the basic and fundamentals of construction management practices, demonstrated by those who have displayed high educational achievement and the desire to learn how to become competent, successful Construction Managers (CMs). Download the CMIT Handbook for more details about becoming a CMIT.

National Conferences

CMAA hosts two major national gatherings each year, offering both up-to-date educational programs and unsurpassed opportunities to network and learn about upcoming projects and industry developments.

CMAA Focus in the spring is an early career to senior level conference that explores markets, trends, and  factors which contribute to success in delivering projects. Speakers focus on providing in-depth and useful information on key industry topics including financing, partnering, contracts, leadership, legal and regulatory issues, bonding, risk management, workforce issues, and current market research.

The National Conference & Trade Show in the fall is CMAA’s flagship event which includes a comprehensive exhibit hall, plenary and breakout sessions, and the annual Industry Recognition Awards Dinner where our annual Project Achievement Awards, Person of the Year, and other individual honors are presented.

Lunch & Learn Series

As a benefit to our members, CMAA South Atlantic Chapter provides them with opportunities throughout the year to earn continuing education credits.

These are low key events and provide members and guests the opportunity to learn from the most competent sources for professional education and training related to the Construction Management profession.
